Despite the remarkable trove of magical instruction available to us in the form of books and video, the ability to learn — personally — from an accomplished professional remains a cherished and valuable tradition in our art. In any field, there is no substitute for learning from a mentor, and in magic, Aaron was privileged to have learned at the feet of several of our craft's greatest masters, among them Larry Jennings, Jack Birnman, Michael Skinner, and Peter Galinskas.

Today, Aaron is proud to continue this tradition in turn, helping select students — amateur and professional alike — deepen their card-handling skills, and put focus and meaning into their performances. More importantly, Aaron teaches students how to ultimately teach themselves.

After an initial correspondence, Aaron designs a curriculum especially tailored for the student, with sessions typically taking place over a period of several days in Los Angeles. Depending on the student’s needs, programs usually cover the study of fundamental techniques and their application to real-world tricks and effects. In all cases, though, Aaron evaluates the student's skills, and abilities, and places against them any real-world constraints — including time, aptitude, and even desire — to create a completely realistic program that will allow the student to accomplish virtually any miracle he or she could want to perform.

The result is an overarching approach to performing advanced, powerful card magic — from the proper way to learn the basic sleights upon which all card effects are built, to an understanding of the principles of timing, misdirection, and staging that performance requires. Even better, students come away with the information they need to guide their own continued journey — empowered to research, choose, and develop effects that will turn their sleight-of-hand ambitions into elegant reality.
